  • I walked out of my office job after 9 years.

I have been with this company for 9 years. And recently my position was eliminated so I moved to a new position. I lasted 2.5 weeks until walked out. There was no training. All my systems were f ed up. They gave me only busy work and never trained me. Gave me unrealistic timeframes and was harassing me.
  • They would talk about me right in front of me. I heard them talking about me when my earbuds were in. I was about to tell them all off. I've been remote since 2020 and this is how you treat me in an office.
  • Once my background clear I was done. I put in my 2 weeks notice and the entire team took a walk around the bldg without me. And then gave me worse time frames and a spread sheet of over 1200 items. I started twitching so I was done.
  • This Thursday I came in early. Packed up all my stuff and left. I was given a new job offer and that starts in a week. So I was done. F them. I can't deal with the BS. Get me out of there. So toxic.

jesusonoro they eliminated your position then moved you somewhere with zero training and impossible deadlines. thats not a new role, thats a constructive dismissal playbook so they dont have to pay severance. glad you got out but depending where you are a labor attorney might still want to hear this story.
  • WishOrdinary2408 Original Poster's Reply Well I was duped into applying for a different role within the company so because I accepted a position they no longer need to pay severance especially if I quit on the spot.
  • Middle-Let7440 100% this. seen it happen to a coworker too. company restructured her out, stuck her in a role with no support and piled on the impossible workload. she stuck it out longer than she should've. same playbook. OP definitely worth looking into, especially if you documented any of that harassment.
  • WishOrdinary2408 Original Poster's Reply Sadly I dident. I knew it was happening. I waited until everything was confirmed at my new job. Then I out in my 2 weeks notice. When I did that that entire team went on a walk to talk about me. And it got significantly worse. And I just left and didn't show back up. The funny think I dident have anyone's number. The only time they dared to share their contact information is when I dident show up. Shows how much they cared about me
  • howisthisusernotaken When your body is reacting that strongly it stops feeling like regular job stress and more like a warning sign. If they're being openly disrespectful, that kinda answers things on its own. Leaving once you've got something else lined up sounds more like protecting your sanity than making a big scene.
  • WishOrdinary2408 Original Poster's Reply It was. I've been crying for 3 days straight. I've never felt like this before. I think I have some trauma
  • MufasaLocks Take care of yourself, OP. Trauma from toxic jobs is real but not something most people are ready to acknowledge.
  • WishOrdinary2408 Original Poster's Reply I loved this job. I really did. We were acquired by a hedge fund in Q1 2025. And it's been h I since the sale closed. Them trying to cut everything including their top performers because a lot of my former colleagues have been fired for BS reasons.
  • Lucas-Larkus-Connect "You were fooled." Were they? Or maybe you just don't have enough info to talk about it?
  • WishOrdinary2408 Original Poster's Reply I know I was fooled. Maybe that's what it hurts so much. This was a setup. Never trust anyone at a job. They will backstab you if you give them the opportunity.
  • Wild-Dot-1935 Depending on your countries laws you may have been due redundancy for eliminating your position. Instead you took a new position within said company and was ed out. forced/bu You were fooled. Labor lawyer up and see what you can get.
  • Zealousideal-Rip-574 These corporations don't care about us. We are headcount to be optimized. You're either the one doing the optimization or the one being optimized out. I have a five year plan to free myself but I've decided to step up my timeline and try to get out by end of next year if at all possible. Edit: btw OP, glad you landed on your feet. It doesn't sound like this was remotely your fault. You gottal look out for number one when you work in this disgusting cannibalistic world.
  • DebasishRich I am so glad you found something better. All the best with your new job
  • pangalacticcourier Victory! I worked with a guy who had a similar situation. When he came to work with me he showed me an email he was sending to his former colleagues and managers. He spilled some tea and listed all the perks our company was giving him, along with his new title and how much his salary increase was. Petty, yes, but you could see the joy in his eyes as he was doing it.
  • brunetteQueen07 Nine years of loyalty and this is how they repay you? Absolutely disgusting behavior from management. The fact that they excluded you from team walks and talked about you right in front of you shows they have zero respect for employees as human beings.
